Over the past two years I have truly enjoyed sharing parts of me with you. I have decided to make the plunge into self hosted wordpress. So this site will have a new URL and new name, The Whole Serving, because my passion for food and cooking moves me to share good, wholesome, healthy foods that nourish the body and soul, without making you feel guilty about eating the whole serving.
Hey, I will still share health and fitness and other cool things.
And, there will be desserts, because life’s not the same without dessert.
I appreciate all of my followers and I hope you continue to follow and support.
For all of my wordpress followers you will continue to see my post in your reader, but to receive email updates you will need to subscribe on my new site.
It’s a little bittersweet to say goodbye to the old, but exciting to look ahead to all that’s new.
I adore you all and look forward to sharing so much more with you, my regular readers, blog buds, friends and family.
The change will happen over the next few days.
Thank you all for your love and support.
Life Lately It’s been a great summer so far. Started with the graduation of my daughter, Taylor, (the one on the far right). It doesn’t seem like it has been that long, but there she is a high school graduate, not just a graduate, but an honor graduate, I’m so proud of her.
I’ve also been enjoying an abundance of seasonal fruits. I’m loving it!
And this, it takes me back to my childhood. We used to buy the big coconut cookies for a penny and they tasted just like these.
The day we were there the animals were cohabitating, the zoo keeper explained that sometimes they let them play together.
A trip to Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum, turned out to be loads of fun with the school-age children at my early learning center.
I am making up for all the lost time when I couldn’t eat watermelon.
Infused water is a snap with my new water bottle, a gift from a vendor for my center.
I’ve been making this Strawberry Infused Lemonade , and it’s so good. My daughter and I are fighting over who gets the last drop. Check out the recipe HERE.
It was such a wonderful weekend for some fun in the city. My daughter Taylor and I had so much fun at the POPSUGAR + Simple Passport to Healthy Skin event on Saturday. After check-in we headed to the beauty counter. I had some great photos, but somehow I accidentally deleted them, so sorry.
On to Fitness with some yoga moves.
The relaxation zone was grand.
Erin, who is a local massage therapist gave me the most amazing upper back and neck massage, she got out all the kinks.
Erin is also an accomplished runner, you can learn more about her at her site Massage By Erin
On to the Detox Tea-Garden.
Delicious Mango Tea.
Some healthy eats.
Yogurt stuffed strawberries, oh so good!
Fresh fruit, always a great choice.
I also made some new friends!

My daughter, the artist, is always telling me , blue and green are calming colors and they are should be used together to give a sense of calm . Maybe that’s why God made the sky a beautiful blue and the trees vibrant greens. After a super stressful week, running with the view of blue sky and green trees, sure distressed me.
After my run a trip to Super Target also helped, who doesn’t like shopping at Target, so many good finds.
My first find was actually a big need, sunscreen, and the plus was a free lip balm.
Also picked up the on-the-go face and body stick, another free lip balm.
For everyday use I got the ultra sheer dry-touch SPF 100.
I found some cute shorts.
My daughter found some jeans, $7.48, what a bargain.
Love these shoes!
One of the greatest finds this weekend, is finding out I can now eat watermelon once more. After moving to Texas in 2002, it seemed that every time I ate watermelon, I would get sick, so I have avoided it for over 11 years, but I really wanted to eat it. This weekend I decided to give it a try, and I didn’t get sick. I’m not sure what about watermelon was making me sick before, but I’m sure glad I can eat it again. I will however, be cautious every time I eat it.
Sunday afternoon, I made hummus, using cannellini beans and spinach to give it a nutritional boost.
It was so gooood!

Disclaimer: The following post is a review for culinary grade Matcha from KissMe Organics. I was given the opportunity to try this product from KissMe Organics for the purpose of this review. I received no further compensation for this review and the opinions are my own. The content of my review is my true and honest experience with this product.
I first wrote about the awesome power of Matcha GreenTea and it’s wealth of health benefits in this post titled, The Power of Matcha, check it out if you haven’t already.
It was perfect timing when I was asked to try this product from KissMe Organics. I had been cutting back on drinking coffee everyday, but that had me experiencing caffeine withdrawal headaches. Although matcha has caffeine, there is a difference in how the body metabolizes matcha, it’s both a stimulant and a relaxant, perfect for keeping your mind focused during your day. There are loads of antioxidants found in matcha, and because with matcha the whole tea leaves are consumed, not just steeped as with other teas, you receive more of the health benefits.
There are many ways to consume matcha, I generally don’t drink it as a tea, but I use it in my smoothies and lately I’ve been making hot, but mostly iced lattes. Just mix 1 teaspoon of matcha powder with 2 tablespoons of hot water, mix well, add warm or iced cold almond milk to the matcha, mix well, sweeten with sweetener of your choice, I use agave nectar or maple syrup. For an extra special touch, top it off with whipped coconut cream.
If you want to take it up another notch, make some Matcha-Chia Pudding. Oh so easy,1 teaspoon of matcha powder, 1 cup of almond or coconut milk, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, sweetener of your choice, I use agave nectar or maple syrup. Mix well using a whisk, cover and chill for 2 to 3 hours. Serve topped with whipped coconut cream.
Eating a few of these made for a Marvelous weekend. You have to give it a try.
Have a wonderful day and fantastic week!
